The skull should be broad between the eyes; cheeks are well boned, but not prominent. The nose should be black; the nostrils are well developed and broad. Skin on the head should not be loose, but slight wrinkles are acceptable.

The chest of Rottweilers should be broad and roomy; the ribs are well sprung. The back is straight and not very long. The ratio of shoulder height to the body length should be as 9 is to 10. The ideal height for dogs is 25-27 inches at the shoulders; bitches are 23-25 inches at the shoulders.

The coat of Rottweilers is short and coarse. The only accepted coat color is black with tan markings and gray, fawn or black undercoat. Markings should be over each eye, on cheeks, on throat, on forelegs, on inside of rear legs, and under the tail. Markings should not exceed 10% of all body color. White spots are disqualified in Rottweilers.
